I'm sure the sales are far less than stellar, this doesn't help. The FPU for me in 2017 was a marketing chip, my dealer ate most of it but it was less then too as discussed. The dealer should really eat this cost as it saves them the dealings with delivery, PDI, etc.

Our initial plan was to use this coach for about 3-5 years, then upgrade to a DP right at retirement time.
At the way things are going, it will definitely have to be a used DP, or just keep going in this coach.

There are amazing deals in pre-owned, it is the way to go IMHO. Near give aways, 50% off or more.

We did CPU or FPU on both the Canyon Star and Dutchstar. On the 2024 Dutchstar we worked it into the discount on the purchase price.
The dealer, NIRV, at the time was willing to eat the cost of the factory pickup to move a new unit. By the end of 2023 the RV sales market was slowing considerably.
At the time the factory pickup was $5999.

I'm a big fan of purchasing a "used" RV. (The proper one of course.) You can get tremendous deals and benefits. Most everyone knows the following, but I'll repeat it for the less experienced buyers.

1. Depreciation's Already Smacked the First Owner
Like a luxury car rolling off the lot, a new Newmar takes a financial nosedive the moment it's driven away. A late model unit lets someone else eat the depreciation while you just enjoy the ride.

2. Better Bang for Your Buck
For the same price as a new, lower trim model, you can get a used higher-end trim loaded with extras, upgraded cabinetry, more powerful chassis, better electronics, etc.

3. Bugs Are Already Worked Out
New coaches are often plagued with “shake down” issues, leaking seals, rattles, misaligned drawers, you name it. With a gently used one, the previous owner likely played beta tester so you don’t have to.

4. Fewer Hidden Fees and Dealer Addons
When you buy new, the dealer gets creative with fees, prep costs, delivery fees, and upgrades like mystery sealant. With a used coach, what you see is what you pay, and you can buy from private owners or savvy brokers.

5. It’s Already Debugged
You won’t be the one chasing down warranty work every 800 miles. There are lots of stories rolling around the Internet of people who spent more time in the shop the first year than they did on the road.

Newmar owners know the value of Newmar service and support. I'll gladly buy a pre-owned with a proper (hopefully) RV inspection and then new it up with a visit at Newmar if needed for any issues found. Buying these amazing pre-owned deals we have now is a huge opportunity and you have a huge budget to new it up, mods, etc.

[Deleted my opinion on buying a new Newmar]

I received an email recently that I did not save. It read that Newmar service is now offering inspections on used Newmars for I think $3,800. Not sure how that would work as who is going to drive their MH to the factory for a purchasers inspection. I think its more about after purchase. Then the question is who would pay that much money for an after purchase inspection.
As for the factory pickup fees, as the dealer told me, its not an item the factory discounts to the dealer so I could either get the discount to my purchase price or they can include the fee in my price. But make no mistake, you are paying for that fee no matter what your dealer says he is doing. I chose to negotiate it off my price.
