Newmar slowing production to 4 days/week

I heard this morning Newmar is reducing to 4 days of production per week starting next week due to parts supply issues. Shortages are everywhere from getting chassis, generators, refrigerators, wood, etc.

I heard at one point there were 70 ships off the coast. FYI, Costco has already started limiting toilet paper 1/customer. Here we go again.

I went to Costco to buy paper on Tuesday night. Not a shred of paper anywhere.

If they are reducing to 4 days a week over parts and labor shortages, perhaps they should consider increasing back to 5 days a week to address the quality shortage.

All - The shortages, ships waiting for piers, contaners being in short supply, not enough truck drivers, all is not necessarily covid related. It's the governments response to COIVID and how that is affecting supply. "I am truck driver, I am on road 7 out of 10 days, government say, hey, we are going to give you money, to offset slowdowns, hmmm, maybe will stay home, since getting paid to sit on backside." I cannot speak to truck traffic on roads, since we have not traveled in month or so, projects, awaiting shed repair and physicians appointments. Last time, lots of truck traffic. This past month, amazon messed up two of my orders, and I have been customer like forever it seems, credit was issued for both itmes, one wrong filter, the other item disappared in AL at postal facility. So glad we stocked up on TP last year, BH gave me heck about it, but I said, aint using leaves. Have you checked price of toothpast lately, the 3.4zo tube is 6 and change here. That used to be the big size price, hmmm, more money selling small one, cannot see the big size anylonger. Tenderloin package at costco, 4 steaks, 70 and change. Pork chops are tougher all and evey place. Chicken was on sale here for split breasts .98 lb, last year price started goijng up, now on sale 1.98lb, off sale 2.98lb. Gasoline was in August 2020, 1.499 here, now 2.90 gallon, price of WTI today, 75.88, many experts say 90 and up will be by possibly end of year or 1st quarter. I blame government and federal reserve, and no, I did not vote for the idiots in charge now. We don't buy steak much, and only chicken once in while. Fixed income you see. Lots of other things going up. It's going to get worse for a long time before it gets better, and don't ask me when or how. One financial report said prices for new cars going up almost 10% or more, and backlog of parts/chips wont clear before mid 2022 if then. Local grocery store had pleanty of TP and paper, but suspect that is going to change. Target, Walmart, and Costco all are contracting direct with truck firms and ship companies to make sure shelves stay full for xmas. That will only increase other outlets supply issues. Our local Longhorn Steak House, cannot get but one desert, and have taken the apple one completely off menue. Coffee lovers, 1.90lb now, last december was .50 cents lb, and some ups and down per pound for that, freeze, drought, then another freeze in Brazil, so used to get the costco canned coffee, and it was 8.97 early in 2021, now it's 12.97 and expect that to go up another dollar. Stocked up last year, got about 7 cans. I can give up coffee if I have too, won't be pleasent. We don't drink, so cannot speak to alcohol prices. That is report from N-GA mountains.

My suggestion is to put the production folks in the service center on the fifth day. This could decrease turnaround time, increase the number of coaches serviced per week, get customers into the service center sooner, and increase revenue fir both the service and parts department.

Heck, instead of just sitting around, I would love to help my tech with the work. There are a number of tasks that require hand or feet, but not much skill. I know there are insurance liabilities they have to worry about. The world is entirely too complicated. On the other hand I would not mind signing yet another release form.?
