I’ve identified about fifty things that are different between our 2017 DS 4018 and our 2020 DS 4081.

Here’s a few more on the list.

2. Switch for activation of electric cable reel has been moved from the reel to the bay door. No more bending over to operate the switch.

3. Gas struts on front cap.

4. Strengthened steel plate for mounting of hot water tap at front cap.

5. Improved access to hydraulic pump and reservoir.

6. Generator on a slide in 40 foot DS.

Of course some of these may have happened in 2018 or 19.

Love the generator slide. I didn’t know Newmar had extended that feature to DS. That’s a must-have for me when I upgrade.

I think it’s been on the longer DS’s (43 footers) for some time, but not on 40 or below.

There is no option for 3 AC’s on a 40’ DS. The smaller DS’s do not have the front axle size to carry the larger generator.

I worried about this when I bought my first DS, a 2017 DS 4018, since I was coming from a 43 foot Monaco with three AC’s. But after putting 26,000 mules on that 17 with no cooling issues, I’m convinced you don’t need the third AC.

The 40 foot MA is on the Spartan K3 so it can handle the larger generator and it comes with three AC’s.

The 40’ and smaller DS’s in 2020 come with the 8k generator. Only the 43’s have the 10k.

Any generator on a slide is easier to service.
