Yesterday someone wanted to know what the letters on the back of the ref’s shirt meant and rather than try to explain it I provided this diagram. So if you ever wondered or tried to explain it to someone, this might be helpful.

We have a resident expert, paging @ehochuli85 :) I had the privilege of meeting him, great guy (and his wife) and touring his Newell not long ago. Hope you all get the opportunity to meet him someday as well.

His son Shawn is now a NFL ref as well. Look for 83 on the back.

Isn’t there also a total backup crew for the Super Bowl that also assist in calls if needed from just off the field? Not sure what they can assist with, just thought I heard this the other day

I heard there is a crew to help break up scuffles, I'm sure there has to be backup in the event someone gets injured too.

I don't think the ref's are biased or "fix" the games. I do think there has to be a better way to identify forward progress and be more accurate spotting the ball. Ref's are humans, mistakes will be made, that's just a simple fact. Has to be a pressure filled tough job. I'm not gonna do it.

I must admit though, it's something to needle with. Good thing I can cook, and I'm very comfortable in my recliner after 33 years of marriage.

He always looks like his shirt was going to split open. Definitely did some working out between games 👍🏻

Mine wants to split in a different area :(

Yeah that is a different problem as we age - mine too and working on moving that around. Have the time being retired but it will take a while I think.

Go bears oh wait. Nevermind

Yeah, my ears were burning, so I had to do some looking and figured out why - RVForums.com! My shirt is starting to burst in different places, too, Neal!
As for my son, Shawn, you cannot imagine how proud I am of him. He is so much better than I ever was; it’s such a pleasure to watch him and watch his tremendous success in the NFL.
As for me, loving the retired life, and no more lifting weights and no more Gym. Gym and I agreed that we were not going to see each other anymore, and I think we’re both happier for it!!
Still traveling pretty much full-time and I sure do enjoy this life and the people that I meet along the road.

I have to agree with the legacy of Ed's career. He's one of the best. Grew up around professional football officials and many of them enjoyed the camping life. So it doesn't surprise me that Ed and his wife tour the Country on wheels. Safe travels...Blessings

Enjoy the travels. I remember when John Kolb and some of the other Steelers used to work out at the gym dad and I went to.

The full time life is great, we are starting our third year with no plans on stopping anytime soon.
