Our Norcold 982 electric gas frig has been having cooling issues lately it doesn't help it's almost 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity. At first the fridge part wouldn't cool and I checked the thermistor and replaced it for the second time after that than the Freezer part wouldn't get I've checked the coils and they were hot, the other day we went to the beach and overnight on propane it started to cool so I figured it "burped" itself, we went back to the campground on shore power and it wouldn't get cold and the coils were cold. I'm trying one other thing I've turned it off for a day an the coils are hot again and there some sign of cooling cooling. there no yellow residue coming out, no ammonia smell, my guess is the element is shot and needs to be replaced, we already bought a little mini fridge so that's probably going to be our only option to keep food fresh.

Junk it and buy a 400 buck magic chef from Homey

Ok so the coils are heated up and the freezer is showing signs if cooling it went down about 10 degrees at 72 on electric, ambient temperature is about 85 and humidity is 77% feels like temp is 96 I have the vent cover off I’ve put a bag of ice in the past and it lowers it more but the ice melts and I wind up having to dry it out I’ve read that welding sludge is the number one reason a heating element can go bad but if it just needs burping turning it off and driving about half hour does the same trick as taking it out and laying it on its side and burping, sounds like we’re talking about burping a baby lol Update, stuck a bag of ice in and it won't go down past 50, it must be the ambient temperature, I forgot to mention lows are in the upper 70's to 80.

So if anyone is following this thread the freezer temp is now 32 degrees with a bag of ice in it, I wonder if the problem is not only the ambient heat but a worn door gasket?

Put a dollar bill in the door and move it around and then you will see if gasket is bad.

Already did that and while it didn’t slip right out it wasn’t very tight so no doubt gasket needs to be replaced. Any good place I can get one from?

Well what do you know, last night we had a bit of a cooling, so I took off the outside cover and today it's at 30 degrees and holding with 83 degrees outside.
