What is a prescription ice maker?

That’s one that is prescribed by the RVologist. He or she looks at your insurance, maintenance plan, overall RV takes and understanding of RV life.
Then he or she recommends an ice maker based on which ice maker manufacturers are paying him or her the most money to promote products.
You’ll pay a premium for a prescribed ice maker, but you may be able to get a generic if approved.
