Did a regen on the water softener yesterday and have the coach at 45% fresh water - easier than having to buy it.

Hold on to your shirt!!! Soon they will want that! Get ready.

LAZY FOOLS! All they gotta do is save their 2-liter coke bottles, rinse them, put in a few drops of bleach and fill them from the tap. Stick the full bottle on a basement shelf and build up a ready supply of emergency water.

Funny! You sound like what they accused Trump of!!! Are you suggesting we drink bleach???

Are you suggesting we drink bleach???
People sanitize their fresh tanks with bleach, quite a bit of bleach, so it must be safe to some level. I know I like to rinse my fresh tank several times to try and rid the bleach. But it's there, in the lines, etc.

Back to the topic, people can and should stock up on water however possible. Unfortunate times and having just learned from Helene people better be smart about this one. I realize Floridians know much more about this than I but mother nature is no joke! Just evacuate and take a vacation!!!!

Coach should be empty black/gray, full fresh, full fuel, etc. etc. We are lucky to have options with RV's.

We picked a good time for our western trip, Idaho Falls for the week

Your right Neal. People do a lot of things that are bad for them.

More people every year become allergic? to bleach. Just as more people get food? Allergies. What is becoming more known, is they are getting reactions to preservatives and bleach. Not Allergies, but overdoses of these chemicals that stay in the body longer than we were lead to believe. Chlorine is poison to our bodies. So stocking up water is not such a trivial thing!!!

The way I responded above was to help people think, but was on topic.

Your local Walmart sells water purification kits for camping, it's called CD. It is a detox of heavy metals. So will help in getting rid of many things in our bodies that we were lead to believe were ok!

Also on topic would be micro plastics that are proving to be a real issue! Something those water bottles can't help but put in the water those bottles hold. In a perfect world we would see glass bottles, however!!! Emergencies are Emergencies!

My inclination would be to stock up on gallon jugs (glass), and fill them with water, and a drop or two of CD. I wouldn't store them in a basement prone to flooding! Rather in the highest part of the house.

Then again, if I were facing this kind of storm, I would already (as of a week ago) be on the road west!!! Yes my daughter is in the paths projection! She is confident she will be safe, I am not so sure with the predictions I am privy to!!! But alas she must answer for her choices.

Actually Kevin.....YES. (Notice I said a few drops in a 2-liter bottle.) The idea is to kill off the bacteria that occurs naturally so that you can long-term store water for emergencies. The percentage is quite small, but I can't account for those that might have an allergy to it. I would hope they know who they are.
Now, I'll concede that there are better alternatives for the purpose, and I would recommend them over chlorine bleach, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Neal's right in bringing up how we sanitize our fresh water equipment, but so are you in getting the heck outta dodge. That's the best thing to do.......evacuate, because momma nature WILL kick your backside up around your earlobes, should she be that angry.

The people I work said they knew that I among them would be one prepared for the last hurricane. It's not like it took me a lot, the RV in the back yard being key. What got me is how unprepared they and most of my family was. We're all fairly rural, not a one living in an apartment building.
Son in law was the cherry on the cake. Borrowed one of my portable generators and brought it back when his power came back on (three days before ours) THEN went out and bought his own generator in the middle of the rush to buy them. Just three days later all kinds of deals are out there on Craigslist and Facebook for lightly used ones as everyone's power comes back on. I guess he's not as silly as people selling them thinking they will never need them again though.
