We camped in three different places this past week while my wife’s brother was visiting, but Pawnee is the one that I haven’t mentioned before. This was our second time there with our Rockwood Roo. I’ve tent camped there a couple of times as well.
The sites are close together, but dense trees and undergrowth give a sense of privacy.
To get to Brainard Lake, you have to walk through the day use parking lot. There’s no electric or sewer, and no cell reception. But to me, this place is perfect.
We used our Oupes solar panels and generator to extend power usage. My oldest son hiked his first thirtheener (Mount Audubon, at 13,229’), and we had great fun fishing the creek and river above the lake.
