I have the drive app from Garmin on my phone.

That provides real time traffic etc to the Garmin while driving.

When the Garmin is on I export the gpx file from inRoute and one of the options available is to send to Garmin. It shows as an imported trip after that.

The other way I have done it, when not connected to the Garmin, is export the gpx as a file on my phone. Then when connected send the file to the Garmin through the drive app.

The inRoute app can be used for navigation while driving as well. It is car play compatible, not sure about android.

Quite welcome.

The drive app is nice since it will give you the option to reroute when traffic is a mess etc. You have to option to reroute or stay on the current route.
