I have had an RVI 3 brake controller for 3 years now. The problem that I have had is that it wants me to pair almost everytime that I put it into use. Rarely does it actually pair. So, I drive and tow unprotected. What else am I do? Today I have called RVI all day trying to get this resolved. Left messages, serial numbers and phone numbers. Just called again, No answer! No return call even thought their recording states that they will call you back within an hour. Well it has been almost 3 hours and still no call back! Good thing that I am not out on the road trying to get assistance!
 

According to the above, if that is your braking system, you don't need to have your tablet paired to the system for braking to work, when it is required.

I too had an RVI3 brake unit! It would not pair correctly, and this was back in 2019. RVI was of no help, though they sent another tablet, which was also "junk"!
Long story short; I used it & towed over 30,000 miles, 5 years, and the unit always worked, and still is, with the new coach owner! Tablet only provides a "check" to see if it operates! One hard "stab" of the brakes, will prove the same thing. A great easy to use unit, but their tablets, TPS system, & repeater, all suck (my opinion), but the brake product is excellent!!
