We tow a small trailer around Idaho with no built-in bathroom, and I'm trying to sort out a toilet setup before our next trip. I keep going back and forth on a portable unit versus just using campground facilities. I came across this page about the Kohree 5.8 gallon portable RV toilet while looking at options: Kohree 5.8 Gallon Portable RV Toilet Review.

What I'm unsure about is capacity versus weight. Five-plus gallons sounds great for a long weekend, but I don't want something that's awkward to carry and empty at a dump station, especially when it's full. I'm also wondering how the seal and vent hold up after a season or two of bouncing down Forest Service roads.

Has anyone here run a portable toilet this size in a smaller trailer? How is it for everyday use, and is emptying it as much of a hassle as I'm imagining? Any input from people who've used one would be appreciated.

Something to consider. A 3 or 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat that is removable. Line the bucket with a trash bag and put a few pounds of kitty litter in it. Use this strictly for night time emergencies and CG facilities for "normal" use. I don't think in a small camper full time toilet use is practical.

The beauty of the setup I described is it doesn't slosh and if you use it, you take the seat off, pull out the trash bag and throw it in the dumpster.
