Resolved Power step

My front door power step has stopping functioning correctly. It has become sporadic in operation. Sometimes it will work several times in a row then stop working. My motorhome has a back door and it is working fine. I am assuming there is some type of switch that is associated with the door that might be malfunctioning. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

What type of step system is it? Kwikee? Pictures help too.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I decided that I would start with making sure the ground was tight and clean,it was. Step still did not function. While poking around I discovered that if I touched the wires coming to magnetic near the floor my steps activated. Found that when a piece of the threshold was installed it had pinched one of the wires. After stepping on the threshold over time it had slightly cut thru the insulation to cause a short. Removed threshold and freed wire everything now works fine.
