I have a class a coachman, and I am new to this. I don’t understand why if I am running my generator that I cannot get power to my receptacles. Any help is appreciated.

Check for breakers at or on the generator. Also, my previous 2017 Coachmen class A I had a plug in the bay where the electrical cord lived that I plugged the 50 amp cord into and that attached the coach electrical to the generator. When shore electrical was available, unplug from the outlet and into the shore power. Kind of a poor mans transfer switch! If yours is set up that way, make sure you plug and unplug with generator off to avoid any arcing on the connectors.
