Radio controlled airplanes?

How many flew R/C at some point in their life? I flew them in my teen years, loved it, miss it. Thinking about getting back into it someday. I think the only way to really do this while RVing is keeping a lot of the stuff in the bed of the toad or a stacker. Guess there are ways. Anyone continue to fly R/C while RVing?

Did some R/C as a kid. Plane was fixed wing and had to use my parents truck to transport it. Bought the plane w/o servos in a garage sale for $10. It was a blast.
Haven’t flown R/C in decades.
I assume that today many might be electric, alleviating the smelly and oily mess I was always working to clean up. If electric, would need a starter - though I probably didn’t NEED a starter, but was just really nervous about injuring fingers as I knew I had a tendency to injuring my hands too often and I saw someone else get badly injured by the prop.
Would be fun to get back to it.

Good point, many are electric now as well as ARF and that would make it easier to manage with RVing. I still maintain my AMA membership, got that back when started with drones just to be safe.

The wife’s nephew did for quite a while.

Got to the point where they didn’t fit in his pickup and he had to get a trailer to haul them. Had some that were quite large

He is now into cars and just built a Miata convertible with a corvette engine. Should be more fun than the RC planes.

I was into them in the early 80s. Started in sailplanes and then went powered.

A few years ago I was wintering in the Phoenix area and the gent across from me was into them bigly. He had a toy hauler and his toys were all RC related. I went out to the airfield to observe him one day. After that, I had to fight the urge. You know what I mean.

I do tend to hunt out R/C fields in my travels. AZ seems to be really big into them with nice fields. I had a great field with great people growing up with them and then the field got sold as the owner wanted the land for housing, and nothing ever took off again in the area. I have the local fields all in my plane's GPS so I go check out the fields from time to time to see if anyone is there, typically not much and the people are half of it.

Used to fly many years ago but the airfield near me closed when the land lease was up and a mass transit station was built there. Sure was fun and the camaraderie was great. Back then it took a lot of “stuff” to go flying. Would be a bit of a chore to haul around in the rv unless it was just for short trips.
