Am at the Tampa Super RV Show. Today was opening day.
From the size of the crowds, parking lots full, & folks shoulder to shoulder in the Venue!
Seeing the number of RV's with "Sold" signs already in them.....I'm not sure what to think!
Thought economy was slowing. RV Trader shows signs of a slower market, BUT you'd never know it by seeing people spending money today! Accessory Vendors appeared to be doing a booming business!
I'm not sure what to think.
Looking at the prices on these new Newmar coaches, as well as competitor's prices, all I can say is WOW!!
Gonna look at some RV accessory "toys", ogle all these high dollar coaches, & enjoy the friendship as well as fellowship with the other 209 Newmar owners here at our Rally!

It is interesting but we don't know what the sellers were offering, i.e. huge discounts to move inventory or did they preserve the high costs? I imagine these dealers lots don't have enough room for the inventory so they have to move them, or I could be completely wrong! Love the one ya got!

Edit: I read one of my RV newsletters that come to my inbox recently, it mentioned RV travel is still expected to be high in the year ahead and possibly grow. It may be the remote work concept driving it. I don't have the article...

In AZ it is warned that the forests would be fairly full this year due to the economic downturn. Neal, I think you are on to something!

Me, I don't think the two things correlate. At least right now. Common knowledge RV/camper sales had a seriously big covid bump. After such a spike what goofball wouldn't expect sales to dip after?
Around here we have "mushroom houses". Drive down a road with empty space, come back by in a month and half a dozen fairly identical houses have sprouted up. Non-stop boogie that last three years or so. All of a sudden those seem to be grinding to a halt. People are finishing projects they obviously committed to but empty lots are noticeably no longer being bulldozed like they were. So it looks like we have burst a housing bubble. Locally at least. I wouldn't judge the national economy by that either.

I do know retail inflation is real. Boxes of RTE cereal are rarely under five dollars these days and commonly more. Just for one tiny example. That some kind of average of food and energy prices doesn't enter into the government's official assessment of "core inflation" I've always found absurd.

Recession? I don't really know. It does seem to me that though prices are going up most people are still basically spending money like there's no tomorrow.
