Do I need to run the generator to keep the refrigerator running while driving? Or can it safely run off the house batteries?

No, the engine generator (alternator) keeps both the house and chassis batteries charged when driving.

Make sure the inverter is on.

Agree with the others that have posted. Make sure your inverter is on and the refrigerator will run just fine off the batteries. We have a 2015 4369 Ventana and that's typically how we travel. I only run the generator while traveling if we need to run the house air conditioners. (dash air just won't cut it in the hot summer sun.)

Not sure how long per day you travel. We travel for usually 6 hours and just turn off the fridge when we start the day's travel. The door stays closed so it keeps everything cold during that time. If it's hot out and we need to run the genny for the roof ac then we turn the fridge back on.

As long as your inverter is on you can drive 24/7 with the refrigerator running. The engine alternator will easily keep your batteries fully charged. We always run this way and see no reason at all to turn off the refrigerator.
