Ah, the joys of RV life. The DW just told me there's a problem with the washer (whirlpool) that is not draining. As usual, she checked the filter and it's clear. I looked at it and the pump impeller is oscillating instead of spinning, so no drain. I was thinking of replacing the washer with a Splendede to avoid the future recurring problems as most here seem to like them better. Can anyone lead me to the best price and maybe a model # that will fit in the same space? Thanks in advance!

I don't think there are many options for Splendide so it's really just one set for washer and dryer. I think Camping World was where I looked and they seem to be the primary dealer. It may be (will be) far less expensive to fix the Whirlpool on your own. I had mine apart, not a big deal. YouTube is your friend.

Thanks. I understand it will be cheaper to repair the whirlpool, but if I'm not mistaken, it has to be removed to get to the pump. If I'm going to go through that much labor, I'd rather replace it than repair, reinstall and face the next failure. I've looked on YouTube and couldn't find a model specific pump replacement vid. What did you have to repair on yours?

I'm actually looking for comments from those who have switched to see if the Splendede is that much better.

We orderd our coach, brochure said Whirlpool, and asked if the splendede was option, was told factory had alread switched and that was what we were getting. I love both the washer and dryer. Takes a little longer to dry, but excellent performance. Not too difficult to winterize either.

Camera phone is your friend, take pictures of all wires you remove and from where. If different sized screws, put each different size in it's own plastic bag, label from where they came from. If little plastic guides with screw in center, put tape over screw so you don't mix it up or lose it. Lots of pictures, and take time. Have not looked up pump repair/replacement.

But dryer belt let go on Miele T9800 (9 yo), no repair folks would come to us, ordered the belt, got them to give me copy of shop manual, took about 4 hours to take apart and 4 hours to put back together, thing built like a brick xxxxhouse. Repair would have been more than cost of replament dryer if one in stock. Glad I fixed it, parts about 60. Labor free, what else is an old man supposed to do. I did have to buy a complete Torx BIt Set which had #30-50, cheap now got it for something else.

Based on our personal experience, you will be much much happier if you switch to the Splendid. We had a couple different Splendid washers and dryers in fivers when we started camping full time, then when we purchased our new Ventana it came with the Whirlpool POC. Three years and hoping and praying each load of laundry would actually complete the cycle.

On the way to pick up our new fiver in Texas we picked up a new Splendid set and it was the first thing I installed. Now 10 months later it has worked perfectly.

As far as fitting in your space, I'm sure there are other Newmar owner's on here who have switched them out.

Jim, we replaced the Whirlpool, Model #POS, in our Ventana with a Splendide. At the time, Camping World had a sale, which eased the pain a little. It made GlampMomma happy and we never had a lick of trouble with it. If I ever have another Whirlpool washer repair that involves removing it from its hiding place, it will be replaced by a Splendide. FWIW, Splendide was designed for offshore yachts, so the bouncing, tilting and other movements in a motorhome don't give it headaches like the Whirlpool.

I had problems with my whirlpool not draining an found it has nothing to do with the machine it was the operator. We downloaded the factory repair manual an it indicated not to use pods for soap. we drained the water in the tub an switched to the proper amount of liquid soap an for two years have not had a problem. Works great.

Ours came with Splendide because NM realized the Whirlpool were not good quality. I queried the sales staff on get them instead of WP, and they said they were already in pipeline. We have NOT HAD ONE issue with them. They are even easy to winterize. Excellent machines. Ok, dryer is 120VAC so it's a little long in doing the drying, but it does it perfect. I would NEVER have anything but the splendide in an RV. We looked at Thor in Yuma, AZ before we purchased the Ventana, their back warehouse was filled to the brim with bad machines by whirlpool, right then and this forum, knew there was an issue.

Our Whirlpool worked fine once we figured out what it likes as far as loads. I just didn't want to go through the cost of removal and reinstall with the chance of a 6 year old washer having other problems afterward. Went by Camping World to check the Splendede out. North Trail actually had it for 150.00 less. Bought it there and have an appointment to get it installed in Feb.
