I have a 2004 bounder 39z. I discovered that the inverter/converter is not charging batteries. I discovered that a add on cooling fan was mounted on the outside of the unit and had duct tape put around it and was wired direct. The fan ran all the time. I installed a switch between the ground and fan so I could turn off the fan when RV is not in use. Also the 25 amp round button keeps tripping when the generator is running and also when hooked to shore power. With all this said I gave access to a XANTREX Freedom Marine 20 charger / inverter 2000 watts. Is it possible to switch out the old inverter/converter for the XANTREX Freedom Marine 20 charger / inverter ?

Should be possible. I would contact Xantrex or study the installation data for both units though before I made a purchase or install. Sorry...no experience directly. Good luck.

It's possible to install the marine charger but I don't think it will play well with the control panels inside above the door so you'd maybe need to change those out too.

The 458 is still in production so if you chose to go that way, it's a simple plug n pay installation. If you're going to be in the Quartzsite area, Discount Solar is the only one that I know of that repairs and rebuilds the 458.

I installed a Xantrex XC Freedom 2000
Working fine. The old, old xantrex 458 didn’t have a remote. I have ordered a new remote with cable. I chose not to ho Bluetooth because of some of the reviews I had read.
