Last Sunday we were southbound on I-55 between Chicago and Bloomington IL. A new Rivian passed us with regular Illinois plates on it. They must have let a plant manager buy one or something.

There apparently is quite a large test fleet on the road. Probably one of those.

When I noticed it coming up on in the hammer lane I knew it was a Rivian right away because of the headlight/grill. They are the only vehicle on the road that looks like that. When it passed I looked at the plate thinking it would be a Manufacturer or dealer plate but it was just an ordinary Illinois plate. They must have opened it up early for some factory folks to purchase some early. Maybe that has been part of their "test fleet".

I would think so Joe. They have been seen testing in at least a dozen countries.

Hope it turns out to be a really good vehicle. Who knows, some day when we settle down and buy another sticknbrick Rivian may be on my shopping list.

Yah for sure. We know a couple folks who are on the list but they are apparently pretty far down so it might be a year or two. One of them has a Cybertruck on order as well but it’s for his roofing business.

I measured our garage. It would be a tight fit. We’ll stick with the model 3 until next spring and then probably step up to a model Y or X when we get the little T@B teardrop.

Kinda cool. They beat Chevy, Ford and Tesla to the finish line. Nice looking truck.

Ford has an investment in Rivian so it was good for Ford too.

Yah and I believe amazon does as well. They seem well funded. They are going the same route as Tesla with their own charging network. I looked at their map and there is one going in one town over from us. Should be interesting.
