Does anyone know a good route to avoid Atlanta GA coming from Ellijay Georgia (HWY 75) to Atmore AL (HWY 85)??

We have rolled right through on Sunday mornings on 75.

Google maps does not take you close to Atlanta.

how did you get it to route that way?? i have done RV Trip Wizard and Google Maps and they both routed me through Atlanta?

Interesting google route. Avoid Highways option.
Just want to be sure of road clearances as google routes for a passenger vehicle not a RV/truck. There are many train trestles in the South.

Here is the route I get from Google. My opinion is to try the I-75, 285 Perimeter road west loop to I-85. Late morning might be best or a Weekend morning.

I drove (2005-2006) into Atlanta on I 75 southbound ever weekday morning at 5-5:30 am and it was bumper to bumper. traveling between 80 and stopped from Marietta to 285. A 25 min trip took 1.5 hrs.

Do you take 515 straight to I-75? If so, how is that road? We are planning a trip to Eliijay in the Fall. Approach from the North leaving to south, Florida.

I've run US27 to and back from Cordele GA up to Chattanooga TN. From Cordele, to Columbus to Rome and then I picked up I-75 around Calhoun GA. On the East side of Atlanta, I run US441 from S GA into SW NC. The 441 route is the same route we used to take from FL when I was a kid (before I-75 was finished).

What Joe said. I had avoid highways turned on. I didn’t even know I had it turned on.

I will be driving from Carroll’s Sausage in Ashburn Georgia north to Ellijay Georgia tomorrow. I think I’m gonna go straight through Atlanta and try and time it between maybe 1030 and 1130. We’ll see what happens. My biggest unknown is figuring out what lane to be in as I go through Atlanta so I don’t miss an exit.
