I'm in the process of identifying or making a decision on purchasing new tires for my motorhome (2020 Bay Star) with 235/80R/22.5. I'm finding it hard to get tires with a DOT date within the last 6 months. Maybe someone can answer this for me: when determining the start date for the new tires replacement is the date of purchased or DOT dated on new tires? hope this make sense. Your help will be appreciated.

What is on the tire is the week number and year of manufacture, that should be used for determining age.

Caution: I guess one should ask to see the date code before allowing tires to be mounted. I got tires at Glen Tire in Nappanee. I specifically requested tires with a 2025 date code. Well when I arrived they installed tires with 0524 codes. Exactly one year old. They say they have no controol over what Michelin sends them. Supposedly, Michelin will not send out curren year tires until previous year stock is depleted. They insisted that Michelin’s warranty starts at the date of purchase. I guess I learned

I have purchased tires 3 separate times. I have always had the tire shop call the warehouse and get the dot codes for the tires before I purchased. 6 months is about normal, with some being a few months on either end. This is for Michelin.

Toyo will be less than 6 months, with the last set i purchased being 7 weeks old.

Smaller towns that do not have a local warehouse do not have the flexibility. Look for the closest southern tire mart warehouse/distribution center and shop retailers near that warehouse. You will get newer tires that way.
