RV wash & roof cleaner

What do you all use to in general wash your RV and also clean the roof? Our TT has the rubber coated roof so I wonder what is best to protect against UV.

I generally use a car wash type of detergent to wash my trailer. I use the same thing to wash the roof.

This may sound strange, but I mix three different solutions and use it to wash my RVs, vehicles, and motorcycles.

McGuires Gold Car Wash and Turtle Ice Car Wash, about 50/50, then I add just a few ounces of Baby Shampoo. I also am running my water through a water softener so it does a pretty good job and leave less spotting.

I have wondered if the specific detergents are a gimmick and I should use the basic soaps like this.

I use Simple Green. Runoff goes into the storm sewer in front of my house and into the small pond in our HOA, so I only use eco friendly cleaners.

Simple Green works well enough.

Twice a year I wash the roof using liquid spic and span and water. Then the next day or when it dries I use liquid Dicor rubber roof protectant. It has a UV protectant in it.

We agree with the experts who say that an RV roof should be cleaned and inspected at least annually. Cleaning the roof makes it easier to inspect and make minor repairs before they become leaks. We found this cleaner called Protect made specifically for RV roofs. The one gallon jug provided enough for 10-12 cleanings. The site had many videos and tips about roof maintenance and repair.

No need to waste money on special products. If you clean your roof the same way you clean the sides and use a pressure washer, that is all you need.
