The unit we purchased has the in-motion satellite antenna and a direct TV box.
Called Direct TV and they say since it's in an RV have to talk to Wineguard.
Talked to them they cannot reactivate the box.
Have to start a new account and start a two year contract.
Don't want to do that as most of the time it won't get used.

For you that have satellite, how do you do it.

Thanks

We have Dish and it is month to month so if we are not going to be using it we just don’t pay and they turn it off until we turn it back on.

Think it is called Dish Outdoors for the plan we are on. Just update locals through the app when we move as well.

I had DTV years ago and I just took a box with us when we traveled. I had a dish on a tripod. I’m sure they dont allow that these days. It was a pain. I tried to get a dish installed when we purchased our motorhome in 2020. I’m glad now it was had to do. We use Starlink now.

Cannot address Direct TV as we use Dish. We have Dish at home and I have two receivers in the coach. When we travel I activate the receivers in the coach and they receive the same programming we get at home (except locals). To get locals on the road I call Dish and provide the address I'm at and they update the service to receive locals for that area. Dish also has an app called Dish anywhere. With Dish anywhere I can connect (via internet) to the receiver (Hopper) I have at my home and watch local channels from my home location. I have a Wineguard Travler antenna on the coach. I know Dish offers a RV only service that can be turned on and off but I do not have any details on this service.

A number of years ago we dumped Dish and went to streaming all of our TVs at brick and mortar and in our coach. For several years we streamed through our phones hot spot for he RV. Recently switched to Starlink (daughter got it for us as she did not like it when we were off grid and we had no phone service). I am considering taking all the Satellite equipment off my roof to clean it up and free space.

We cancelled ours last month, seems everywhere we parked, trees blocked signal, plus streaming everything now, waste of money for us

Most people that we have talked to also had issues with Wineguard and have gone to other auctions such as Starlink, which has been very successful with everyone we have talked to.

Thank you all for the replies.
Lots of good information here.
Not sure what to do yet but will be checking out Starlink.
