I am selling my Jayco Jayflight. The tags have been expired for a couple years, as we let a friend keep it on their property while they were down and out. They were supposed to take care of the registration. The friend has since passed, and we have our trailer back, and recently learned the tags were never payed. Regardless... We have put it up on Craigslist and have knocked off a considerable amount of money, and advertised that the vehicle is out of compliance w/ registration and would need to be squared away w/ the new buyer. We have since gotten a ton of interest. In preparation for selling it, can anyone offer advice on if there is anything specific I may need for the buyer to confirm they will be responsible for the registration of the vehicle and getting it current. Thanks in advance!

We work with private sellers and buyers all the time. Having a current registration is not really a big deal (IN MOST STATES). Having the title is what matters. That is the true ownership document. There are travel trailers and fifth wheels parked permanently that are only towed to the site then never again. Having the old registration in your name and the title SHOULD be proof of ownership enough for anyone. The buyers state generally will not ask for a registration because plates don't transfer anyway. They will ask for the old title. Having a VIN picture will help the buyer as well. Is a great thing if the VIN picture matches the title (trust me, it happens)
Let me know how we can help.
Thank you,
Ken
