Septic treatment

I use the liquid cascade and put it in the sink with the water flowing to help get it into the tank and clean out the path thoroughly so it's not sitting in the lines. I have a gravity toilet (non macerator) in the half bath so that's the path use to get either Dawn or Cascade into the black tank.

Thanks guys. I will buy a litttle Cacade and use that as a rinse in both Black and Gray. I have a macerator. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I am inclined to agree with you. I did not know about Cascade or Dawn. Thanks for that tip as always.

Dawn can be used for ANYTHING. I'm thinking about trying it on my breakfast cereal..............

I'm not sure it matters what you put in your tanks when you are actually camped stationary. Also, like Jim stated above, RV holding tanks are not "septic systems" and should not be treated as such.

I am a firm believer in taking advantage of the sloshing action inside those tanks when traveling down the road though to assist in cleaning them out. IMHO, beside using plenty of water, that is about the best thing you can do to keep your tank and gate valves in good working order.

On a travel day I drop one or two packets of Oxy-Kem in my black and gray tanks. I also make sure I have several gallons of water in them. While driving all day that mixture bangs and sloshes around and really helps keep the bottom of those tanks clean. I think there are 12 of those packets in one bag of Oxy-Kem and it is sold at all Walmarts for under $8.

So funny, I JUST posted a big article on some new stuff called RV DIGEST-IT and it friggin works INSANELY GOOD...as in NO smell even in HOT weather!! I had a 40% full black/gray tank sitting for over a month, along with some waste water in the hose...and I just dumped it and it was amazingly clean smelling.

You can count me out in the HAPPY CAMPER camp...that stuff'll KILL YA when inhaled!! No matter how careful I was, that stuff would find it's way into my lungs. I just tossed mine out.
