Answered Shopping for a new pellet smoker

Getting my Oklahoma Joe returned with Amazon was a daily battle, finally won. They offered the return after the return period closed which is great and setup a pickup but it was crickets after that. No one called or came. Then the daily chat "you're outside the return window" and "they came or called and no one was there" and "I'll remind them to pick it up" over and over! Finally someone made it happen and it's gone!

Now waiting for Black Friday (will watch upcoming sales) for the Recteq I'm 99% dialed in on. Ready to go back to pellets for sure!

We have a Recteq 1070 grill at home and wish they had not discontinued it.. great grill!! if only they made a nice portable grill that performed as well as that one!

have a friend who drives a Super Star that carries one of those Road Warrier grills... its nice!!

i had a Ninja and liked it, but i really like the portable Pit Boss.

The reqtec 1100 has arrived, all 270 lbs of it on a pallet. I managed to get it inside the house, now for some assembly, then will have to find help to get the grill on the stand. Keep this in mind when ordering these beasts, pictures is one thing, reality another.

With that said, this pellet grill puts the GMG to shame. Heavy duty, quality, on and on. Very impressed with initial unboxing.

I was super impressed with my 1250 all stainless steel. Yes it heavy but I manager to get it together by myself. I'm sure you will also. Take your time is the main thing. Mine came with a small scratch on the lid. (3/4") I called CS sent a picture and they sent a can of high temp paint and a box full with 8 dry rubs and and 2 sauces as a good will gesture. Great CS every time I called with a question.

Just removed all of the packaging to lay out all of the components. I have never seen such quality in forever. GMG, Oklahoma Joe, all of what we see these days is barely sufficient trash builds. I can't believe the price on this is not higher especially after freight delivery, etc. Hopefully first cook will be this weekend depending on the build time.

So it wasn't all that bad and yes, doable by myself. The video helped a lot. I have a terrible pattern of always having to do things twice. I got almost all the way done until I realize the handles (horns) were not on in the orientation shown but I thought it may be better this way for lifting. I searched online and see this is quite the discussion maker, which way do the horns go? Well, I got my wish for doing something twice, as I had guessed, I wouldn't get this through the sliding glass door with the handles/horns on. So off they go and reinstall was in the proper orientation which I do like better.

Burn is in progress, then the recommended chicken thigh first cook after that to season the grill.

So recteq suggests chicken thighs as the first cook as they’re fatty and help season the grill. I don’t think I’ve had them before. Picked some up at Costco today and have to say they were amazing. Used a rub I have for poultry. Delicious. Give them a try if you haven’t grilled them.
