A friend of mine is offering to sell me his 2005 210 Popular, with just over 100k miles. It is in pretty good cosmetic shape, but he wasn’t the best at dealing with issues as they developed. So, some appliances aren’t working including the van AC, the water heater (bad element) and the generator is gone. Brake and shock replacement is also a need. He is asking $5,000. I realize I will probably spend about that much more to get it where I want. I wouldn’t plan on replacing the generator. I am pretty handy so I can take on a good amount of the work, but I don’t want to commit to a years long project either. Any comments on how good/bad of a deal this might be?

Take a look on RVTrader to see what similar units are going for. My thought is 5,000 is cheep. So if you put 10,000 in it, your are good on the value side. My two cents, I did not own this type rig. Good luck.

Your statement about him not dealing with issues would make me wonder if he also didn't properly maintain the vehicle? If you're sure he did that work, then try to find value on the chassis itself, see what the 'core' is worth might be a useful number.
