Hi everyone, my fiance and I have been living in a forrest river sierra 366fl 5th wheel for a few years. We started renovating by pulling carpet and noticed we have some rot on both our slides up near the 5th wheel end. This is our living room. I wanted to know how hard it might be for me to fix this. Has anyone else had success doing this themselves?..thanks

Yes we had the same issue. An RV is not built to be open and lived in. I had to bring my in to a service center to get the floor replaced. It cost me 3200.

We have friends who had two slide room floors rot out on their 4 year old fiver. What he found was the exterior caulking around the bottom edges had gotten bad from sitting in the Florida sun. These "L" shaped metal pieces had allowed water to run directly into the plywood floor edge.

Their replacement is just getting finished this month. The RV repair shop had to take it to their shop and keep it for a month to remove both slides and rebuild the floors. The bill, which was mostly covered by insurance, is expected to be around $5,000.
