We are not full timers but occasionally take 2-3 month trips in the rv. I would like to take a small black & white bluetooth printer with us for occasional printing of documents. Don’t really have a spot for storage so looking for a small footprint. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest a small laser printer unless you want to replace the ink cartridge before each trip since they will dry out from lack of use.

We carry an HP Tango. It’s not Bluetooth though. Why the Bluetooth requirement? I’ve never even heard of a Bluetooth printer. That’s going to really limit your options I think.

Good point. I have a small B&W Laser printer I can only connect directly or through wifi.

I’m incredibly naive about this stuff but if you don’t want to hard wire I think you need wifi, Bluetooth or Apple play (for Apple products) in order to wirelessly hook up to a printer. Since there are times when we are without a wifi system I figured bluetooth would be the way to go. Am I wrong?

@Texas Clodhopper ... I sure need to do this as I am tired of replacing the ink cartridges just like you say. The one @redbaron mentions looks like a good one.

Ah. So some WiFi printers, including the HP Tango, are capable of emitting their own WiFi network that you can join in order to send print jobs to it, as well as joining existing ones. The tango is set up completely through the HP PrintSmart app. I don’t know if anything smaller and it can print color too. No scanning though.

Here are a few in a google search for compact wireless wifi printer. And yes per the @MapNerd some offer a WiFi direct mode. But if you have a pepwave (I have one for sale!!!!) then you have WiFi in your coach and a perfect setup for a WiFi printer. You can also direct connect them with a USB cable so really no need for WiFi. WiFi is good for phones/tablets but if using a laptop then USB remains a viable option too.

I use a canon IP110 that works great! It’s about 12 in long, 1” tall 6 in wide. It’s both BT & wired, 110v

Have you looked at this one? https://www.staples.com/Canon-PIXMA-IP110-Wireless-Mobile-Inkjet-Printer-9596B002/product_1269944

@J&JD Here's an option from amazon. Bluetooth & seriously small. Thermal ribbon cartridges so no dry ink jets , but ~ $0.25 per sheet to print..

I boughy an hp 2700 for $50 on sale. Smallest I could find at the time.

Looks like a slightly newer version is out: M140W

We bought an HP M28w last month - $150 from Staples. It fits perfectly under the bed and serves our purposes very well. The little HP inkjet was drying-out ink cartridges far more often than we were printing.

I'll be checking space in teh new DSDP for a printer. In the worse case this one should work but would prefer to use on from my Stock of printers.

I have that exact printer. I bought it because it was the only one I could find that would fit in that slide out drawer. I have the same set up. It has been working perfectly for us, and I was delighted to find it it also copies and scans.
I had left it in the coach for the past couple years and it still works perfectly. But this month I decided to bring it into our house because I’m not sure the climate is the best thing for electronics with the coaches in non-climate -controlled, but covered, storage.
I will say that even in the hottest weather, whenever we’ve had occasion to go into the coach, we found it cool inside, so maybe the printer was doing OK.
(I forget how to get it working when it’s been several weeks since we’ve used the coach and maybe months since I used the printer, so I made some “cheat notes“ and stuck them onto the printer.)

Ok! So every time I needed to print, I had to get another cartridge. So I got a Lazer printer! Did you know that summer heat can melt the toner? I didn't, but now I do!

Buying a cartridge for a few(up to 100) pages makes a good idea bad.

My answer to the dilemma is a wifi connection, and a Staples office department! Never a fight, never a toner or ink issue. Just a high quality Lazer print job for a fraction of the wasted ink price!!!

Didn't know that either. Must be some serious heat, like death valley heat.
