I'd extend them, go under, wipe the cylinder(s) then liberally spray with silicon. ( not WD-40 )
 
That's how it started for me but I could just hit retract and it would go back up all the way but slowly start to drop again. Ultimately, I had to replace the jack as they're not really meant to be rebuilt although they can be if you can find someone to do it. It shouldn't be losing fluid.
