most public parks charge an extra few dollars per day for our toad which I don't mind at all paying because the fees are so low and we do unhook and drive our toad around. Where I have a bit of a problem is when they also charge an additional daily motorized vehicle fee for the motorhome! Apparently Idaho does this - I've been unable to disprove it. I figured the $14 a day addition to the regular camping fee made it not worth it for us.
Is this true?

I would balk at that as well.

When you say "public park" are you referring to gov't campgrounds?
I have never paid anything extra and we have a motorhome and two motorcycles in a trailer...

In all my years of owning a motorhome and pulling a toad when camping at a state, county, local or federal campground I have never been charged any additional fees for the toad or the motorhome. I have only used a RV park a couple times and the same has been true there

I'm in a COE park in Nashville towing my GMC Canyon and only paid $15/day with my old persons pass. In 20+ years of rving all over the US, I've never paid for having a toad.

What park are you in?

Being new to the TOAD world, I know that our County Parks will not charge for the towed vehicle as long as it's "connected" to the motorhome. Disconnect it in the (convenient) parking lot and drive it in right behind and it'll cost you $15 per day extra. Maybe it's just a matter of semantics ? Blessings

oh yes definitely we have been in several state and city parks that charge extra for the toad and provide a sticker for it. Colorado State Parks do. But Idaho is the one that seems to charge an extra fee for the motorhome, which is weird. Loyd Park in Grand Prairie Texas does, and to add insult to injury, they charged $10 to allow our petsitter in the park for 4 hours (which we paid).

We're booked (and fully paid in advance) at an Oregon coast state park for late summer and there is no extra charge for the motorhome or Jeep. We do, however, pay a 25% surcharge for being from out of state.

Michigan State Parks also charge a daily rate (or yearly pass) for the toad.

Doesn't mean we haven't. When we're charged, we're handed two tickets to put on the windwhields - I can't recall exactly which parks, but it's a frequent occurence for us.
