My mount is a little heavy (almost 4 pounds) and then adding the pole (almost 2 pounds) makes it so much so that I would not want it on a window. Then one must consider the drag that wind would add from the flag during a stiff breeze and I would be scared that the window could either break or be pulled from its frame. As with anything pressing against a painted surface, scratching can take place. Clean surfaces very well before mounting, or better yet mount to your windows!
But you are correct about possible paint damage. I wiped the side of my coach to make sure it was clean but a moist surface seems to make the suction a little stronger as well.
