As I had to avoid Louisiana due to the virus activity I long hauled from Houston to Brandon, MS (8 hours driving + 1 hour for rest and fuel stops), left at 6 AM. Nice to see Diesel around $1.50/gal with the TSD Logistics fuel program at Love's today (although I'll take the higher prices of course to not have this situation we're in). Anyways, this CG is interesting in that that staff are not on site, people are working from home. You're on the honor system to pick your own site and leave a check in the drop box. Nice CG, I'm in the premium site at the edge of the lake, will be a nice place to rest for 7 days before I head further east.
During today's travel I saw maybe 10-12 RV's max on I-10/I-55. Very very very unusual but good to see that RVers are not taking this as time to vacation and get out. Yes, I'm traveling because I'm heading to my Freightliner service appointment on April 15th heading east from AZ. I could have cancelled or rescheduled it of course but my choice was either stay in Casa Grande which that climate is probably the safest to be in, or get my service done and head home to Richmond, VA and hunker down. I do feel safer in the RV as campgrounds are isolated by nature.
As to RV's in this campground, which is a pretty large campground, I'd say about 75% occupancy, more than I'd expect but this place also does long term residents and monthly's. So far in my travels I am seeing few RV's on the road but campgrounds no where near empty, if anything near capacity. This is also the time of the year the snowbirds are heading back home.
