Sometimes, I just can't get a 38 foot diesel pusher into the remote spots were we want to go. This time it was 6 days camped next to a pristine lake for the spring black bear season in British Columbia. Got our daily trout limit but no bear sausage or roasts this year!

big RVs are for parking lots and lunar landscapes...and some campgrounds. I've seen people using those tents on top of their vehicles and it seems interesting, but for me, it'd not be something I'd want as getting up/down from it I'd quickly tire of. Some people it'd not be safe to do either.
Dunno what the other option is, but a mid size p/u truck with a topper on it would seem to be an option for others. That way can get into/out of the sleeping area and not have to climb any ladder to get on a roof.
Can use the roof of the topper to store things if need be, or just the ground.

Or an older van, not minivan, soccer mom van, but a more robust one. Those are big enough people even use those as an RV.

DW doesn't like using the ladder any more for a 2am trip to the....... so I've been searching for a '90s Class B on a Ford Econoline chassis which I can convert to a 4 wheel drive using the transfer case, front driveshaft & other parts from a similar vintage F150 or F250 4 X 4.
