Hey guys! We are gearing up for a trip to visit family in Colorado Springs. Leaving South Louisiana with stops in Austin, Abilene, Balmoreah, Ruidoso and Albuquerque. Can anyone help us in choosing comfortable RV parks? Spacious sites, full hook ups, drive through sites, trees and scenery are all appreciated. Water side is a huge plus.

Austin Lonestar RV Resort has pull-through sites and is in town. It’s older and has mature trees so plenty of shade. Access is right off a busy frontage road next to 35. The city has encroached and developed on all sides so it lacks the peace and quiet of more rural parks, but it has acceptable amenities, is well managed, and is close to city attractions.

My daughter lived in Round Rock, near Austin, and we've tried a few places. My personal favorite is Berry Springs in Georgetown because of its location next to a large park with extensive walking trails.
Easy on/off with Toll Road 130. No pull-through that I recall.
San Gabriel RV Park nearby looked promising, but we never stayed there because my daughter moved closer to the heart of Austin.
So, this past Christmas we stayed at Austonia RV Park in deValle. It's brand new and very nice except it has no showers yet. It's also easy access to Austin. We've never stayed in that older one in Austin because we couldn't get reservations. We will probably be trying the Austin East KOA holiday in early August.
In Abilene, the whistle stop RV resort looked good to us. The first time we stayed in Abilene, we stayed at Ridgeview and it was brand new but terrible management - dirty restrooms, unfinished, broken sites.
(On a side note, As you travel from Austin northwest, be aware that if you have Verizon there's some big holes in center of Texas where you will have zero bars.)
In Albuquerque, we have stayed at the Central KOA Holiday and thought it was very nice (the beautiful weather might have influenced us). We love Thai Vegan, have driven out of our way to eat there. Nondescript, in a strip mall, but exceptionally good food. That's just our opinion.
Lots to see and do in Alb.
we have stayed in Carlsbad but not in an RV park. I don't think I've ever been to Ruidoso. Las Cruces. yes, but not in an RV. We'll be in Colorado Springs ourselves in mid-ish August, spending a couple nights at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. we travel through Texas to Colorado often but we always take a route through Amarillo..

For Albuquerque, we’ve stayed at Enchanted Trails (good enough park next door to a Camping World fwiw) and High Desert RV park (nothing special but perfectly acceptable) on the west side of town. We planned to stay at American RV Resort (next door to High Desert on the West side) but they closed up the office and locked the gate before we arrived (around 5:45pm) with no reservation, so had to look elsewhere. Looked like a decent park though. Our stays there were just passing through. If I were staying for a while I’d try to find something with a little more charm.

More into the hill country west of Austin but I HIGHLY recommend Peach Country RV in Stonewall. Near Fredericksburg, Johnson city and Kerrville. Managers make sure there are activities each evening and take a lot of personal pride in their park. Clean, quiet and mostly pull through.

Ruidoso - Midtown Mountain Campground. In town, quaint, well run though a bit older, Walk to downtown.
Austin area - Redbud Ranch RV Resort in Hutto - NEW, beautiful (Good Sam)
