We have a 780RV we are very happy with but today I am fighting with it. I'm a bit of a planner so I put my routes in and proof them usually the day before.

We have been SW of Houston for the week working and are going to central Louisiana for next week. Went thru Houston yesterday and we're near Beaumont right now. Going to the Paragon Casino in Marksville La today and I can't get the 780 to turn north on US-165 and I'm not sure why, no matter what it wants to go way around the exit.

I've looked on Google and there isn't anything weird about the exit or 165. I just don't want to go all the way to I-49 and up. (adds 30 miles)

All in all it doesn't really matter I'm going to go that way and it will have to recalculate.

Often forgotten is the routing around toll roads. Houston has toll roads. Check your setup about avoiding toll roads?

That was my first thought as well. Houston has LOTS of toll roads.

Y'all missed the part about going thru Houston yesterday. No issues Avoid Tolls is off.

Issue is on today's route from Beaumont, TX to Marksville, LA. 780 wants me to go on I-10 to I-49 and up which is fine, but I would prefer to save 30ish miles and turn N on US-165 and up. Whether I shape the route or add stops it will not simply have me take the 165 exit off I-10 and go north.

Low and behold the Garmin 780RV was working as it should be..........

We took I-10 from Beaumont thru Lake Charles o US-165 as we went up 165 it tried and tried to reroute me off 165..... Finally a popup on the screen that there was a 25 ton weight limit on a small section of 165 just north of I-10. My MH has a GVW of 55,000 lbs, so the 780 was trying to route me based on the weight I had put in when I set it up. Alls well

Good to hear that it was doing its job. I have had a couple of instances with my automotive (non RV) Garmin, with my wifes in dash GPS, and with Google maps where it just simply refuses to acknowledge that a section of road exists. However these have all been in out of the way places and not on a major highway.

I had a similar issue with my 780 a few weeks ago. I was in upstate NY near Wilminton NY. I plugged in my route to VT, and it wouldn’t route me via the most direct route which was NY state route 86. I attempted route shaping and found the specific bridge that it didn’t like. Given that the campground that we were staying at was only a mile or two from that bridge, I drove the car there the night before to check for weight limit signs. There were none. So the next morning we took route 86 and as I was about to cross the bridge, the Garmin was telling me that I was overweight. I kept on going as there were no sign indicating that the bridge had a weight limit. I wish there was a way for the navigation system to route you via the best route and then tell you were the restrictions are so you can adjust accordingly.
