If there is plenty of room showing, we just show up but some parks still charge the booking fee.

What is a "booking fee?" Are you saying that the website advertises a site for $65.00, but when you get there they want $75? Or are you talking about the practice of passing the credit card fees back to the guest?

It advertises a site at $50.00 but when you book there is a fee charged. I'm not really okay with that. The park is sort of guaranteed that I will arrive. It is in their best interest to have on line booking and I should be guaranteed a site when I arrive. When I arrive without booking, I am taking a bit of a gamble that there might not be a spot for me so why pay for a booking fee? A credit card fee is a fee that the operator is passing on that a bank charges them. It is usually 3% and I'm okay with that BUT. There is a park that we stayed at that charged us $20.00 to process the credit card!! Fort Morgan RV Park in Alabama. A $65.00 standard back in has 10.97 in fees that includes the booking fee and taxes and then they have a $20.00 Crdit card processing fee that takes that 65 to $95.00 and they don't tell you about it until you pay!!

When Jerry had made a lot of money for a standup gig he'd done he decided to buy his parents a Cadillac. At the closing Elaine's boyfriend, who was a car salesman is doing the closing. At a point during the closing he goes "and this is the fee for charging a fee".

I've seen it on many campgrounds. I think it is fees they pay to their campground booking host (ie campspot).

May sound weird, but the thing that will gross me out more thing anything else is to find trash and food in the campfire ring. I worked law enforcement for 34 years, I saw a lot of dead and mutilated bodies, but something about trash in the campfire ring just gags me.

I know a lot of folks use that fire pit to cook their meals. Having been a camp host and did my fair share of cleaning out those pits..............You don't want me to post a list of what I have found there. some people just don't have a clue!

Anyone who uses reserveamerica.com, phone app or telephone to book a state or federal campsite pays a $10 booking fee. Many independent RV parks using 3rd party reservation systems charge booking fees.
