Oh the good ole days, the smell of cordite, instead of keyboard!

Here is a picture from around 3 weeks ago, yeah, it was! Post desert storm bringing the ole hawg home to my local airport where I learned to fly and my buddy brought his plane over, only to realize 112 years later I'd own something similar and wish it was the other. (the picture was not colorized, it's an original!)

You may want to give that keyboard a new year's cleaning!

Let’s not go there please since you were probably still in junior or high school when I was already poking holes in the ocean aboard my first submarine 😎

Neal, first of all, Respect. I got so disoriented flying Jim's FPV that I had to lean on his truck to keep from falling over. (and that was all of about 50' up and 20' laterally.) Secondly, Thank you for your service!

Thanks Jim. The disorientation is normal with FPV's, best to just lean against something or even better be seated. I even try flight sims such as Microsoft Flight Sim and also DCS (cooler one with combat aircraft) and the virtual headset makes you nearly want to hurl. Takes some getting used to. Flying the real thing is the easier option :)

There are probably several on this forum that have old military experiences. Back in 1969 I had pleasure (?) of being deployed to U-Tapao AFB, Thailand as the base explosive safety officer. 50+ B52’s were based there. Interesting year of my life for sure.

Note the SR-71 hidden away. Lots of interesting things happened back then at U-Tapao.
The bomb revetment shown in the first picture was filled with 500lb bombs. The B52’s carried 105 of them on each aircraft. We flew 40 sorties/day, 365 days/year which came out to 1,533,000 dropped in the year I was there. Hard to imagine.
