It has been windy all over the West from what I've heard from others since leaving the rally... 🤬

Twin Oaks in GA, not far from the interstate. Far enough away that you don't hear the traffic and close enough that getting on tomorrow will be quick. Last leg in this 8 day, simi unexpected, trip.

Finally back at Deer Springs where I hijacked Site #1 for the day. Much easier to clean the rig on the concrete pad.

@Jim I hope you got permission from the owner because he can be kind of cantankerous at times.

We got into Wallowa OR two nights ago. We are adjacent to a very large piece of land owned by the Nez Perce Indian tribe. They are having their powwow in three weeks there. I've learned alot about their history, their forced migration and their current culture.

Is that a Washington/Oregon carvan decal for the 40th Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally I spy there on the back glass of the toad? :)

Just finished up two days at the Newmar Service Center. Good people, as always. I had a different tech this time but still with Nevin’s team. Rory went above and beyond for me and I am grateful.

As a bonus, I finally got to meet @GlampDaddy over at North Trace.

Currently at a Harvest Host in Beaver Falls, PA. Aviation museum with historical aircraft still in service (but not the one in the pic). I have a thing for F-4s.

It’s hotter than dammit. The generator will get a good workout.

The F-4 Phantom was an awesome jet fighter aircraft back in the day. I had a number of buddies that were in the Navy and Marine Corps that flew them… 👍 🇺🇸

My first duty station was MCAS Kaneohe Bay HI. I got to get a ride in the WSO (we called them NFOs) seat as an orientation. I never got over it. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Fighter pilots had the best jobs. I always had the feeling they would pay the govt to do what they do.

I also had the good fortune to spend time in the F-4E. That devil was like sitting in a rocket ship. Tough to fly but what a powerful aircraft.

Seems like I remember seeing a F-4 taking off on a carrier and it out running the catapult. First aircraft ever capable of true vertical, I believe

Well, the P51 Mustang I took a ride in went pretty darn close to vertical 😎. Corkscrew, strafing run pulling up about 10 feet off the runway, etc.

Not a jet but a darn fun ride and worth every penny. One I’ll never forget.

Commemorative Air Force keeps them all going and does shows all over the country.

And for the record, I saw a photo. And that was pre photoshop days. Dennis, the closest I have ever been to a flying P 51 was at Kansas City downtown airport. I got held short between runway 1 and 3 for takeoff. I watched a P 51 come in to land on runway 1 before I could take off. Those girls look like something Johnny Cash should have written a song about. Long and shiny.
