Dumb question… How fast is the flow rate from the water dispenser on the door on your whirlpool fridge? I just added an Acuva water purifier to the fridge line so we can be sure to get clean water and ice for drinking. The unit comes with a flow limiter of 2 liters per minute to ensure purification occurs, but i found that the flow rate from the fridge is only 1.25 liters per minute…which seems slow especially compared to my home fridge. I am wondering if I have a kinked line or is it just part of the way this fridge works.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

As I just hit the road after several months in storage I replaced my fridge filters (3) yesterday. I don't know the flow rate by volume but it's a steady stream. Nothing blasting a cup out of my hand but steady and flow as expected.

Thanks Neal. Next time you are bored, let me know how many seconds it takes to fill a 2 cup measuring cup. Mine takes about 23 seconds….

30.05 seconds - city water supplied
22.11 seconds - water pump on

Interesting! So that is basically the same rate as mine which helps. At least I know it is working as designed.

Thanks Neal for the quick response! Sorry you are bored. 😀

Same Sloooooooooooow flow rate here. Would love to hear if someone finds a way to increase the flow rate. Takes way too long to fill a coffee pot or even get a glass of water.

It must be by Whirlpools design… maybe to allow more thorough filtering?

I thought my line must have been kinked or something but from the responses here it seems that’s they way it works…

If I discover something, I will let you know.

Maybe Newmar isn't sizing the feed line properly? Maybe Whirlpool expects a higher water pressure? RV's are low water pressure, I'm guessing half that of S&B's.

Yea…. I thought that too, but if you test the throughput straight from the tee under the sink, it is significantly better. I tested it (don’t recall the specific numbers) and found it was over the 2 liter per minute rate recommended by the purifier. This is what started my question around flow rates for the Whirlpool as flow rate was unaffected by the Acuva but was significantly slower when measured through the fridge.
