We had to remove the batteries in our RV. I suppose if it went off when we weren’t there it wouldn’t do any good anyway.

It's a theory similar to "Murphy's Law". Not sure how they make it happen, but ALWAYS between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

And this past Saturday night, at pretty much precisely 2:30 a.m. our smoke detector in our sticks & bricks home went off just outside of our bedroom door. I got up, checked things and reset it. Just over an hour later it did it again - and this is one that is supposed to have 10-year battery life (purchase new in 2024).

That 10-year battery life on a smoke detector is pretty much equivalent to the 10-20 year purported life span of LED light bulbs (that generally fail in three to five years).
