Some destroy it for the rest of us. I just saw a picture of someone having service at NIRVC. Nirvc supplies spots with electric while being serviced. In the picture, folks are out with lawn chairs (fine) and a propane fire pit. Which I do not think is fine. Thats my opinion. But whats the real difference, its not a cg its a courtesy spot.
I also recently read a post of folks who put down the jacks at a Walmart to overnight. Again, its not a cg. These are the reasons less and less Walmarts are allowing overnights. I always overnighted at Walmarts while heading to a destination when I was on a time crunch. I like to drive until ready to stop and not plan when heading across country. I would park far away, no jacks, no chairs and unless parked against grass, no slide. I would make certain to shop at the store. It was not about saving money, just convenience
Now I have more time and can stay a night or two but the Walmart option is quickly disappearing, mainly due to abuse.

I just think more and more people are living in RV's due in part to the housing situation. Not entirely unlike the Francis McDormund character in Nomadland. Modern day Gypsies.
