Hello, Mike here. Glad to be part of this community lookin forward to what is ahead for all of us. Newbies and veterans.
Married, family of 5 and looking to purchase our first travel trailer to travel/move from west coast to the mid west Spring 2025. Our boys are 6,4,2 years of age. We plan on using our 2013 F150 EcoBoost 4x4 to pull TT.
Specs are as follows:
Gear ratio 3.73
Wheel base. 145"
GVWR. 7200
Max tow capacity 11,200lbs
Equipped with Tow package and brake controller as well as sway control.

Again. Looking forward to what is ahead and hope to give and get wisdom from our experiences and adventures. Until then.

From the Andersonite Tribe
Shalom Shalom.

Hello springchicken84,

We have a similarly equipped Ford. A few things to keep in mind. Watch your truck's payload. With your family, personal gear, fuel, and extras you may load in the truck bed it is easy to use up the limited payload after hooking up a travel trailer that may fit your family. It is easy to overload travel trailer so know your weights as loaded for travel. We us TowingPlanner - towing capability calculators and CAT Scales as easy tools to calculate all your weights. We seldom travel with trailer tanks loaded unless it is to drive to the campground dump station when we don't have sewer hook ups. Check your tire pressures every travel day before hitting the road. We drive 60 to 65 MPH for safety and fuel economy. Occasionally, slower during strong lateral winds. You should use a weight distribution and sway control hitch. Leave yourself plenty on room to stop. You may be a great driver, but others are not. Enjoy your times traveling.
