Just one more reason not to live in Texas.
I’ve seen far worse in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado. The results of a single lighting strike has destroyed 1000s of homes, killed many, and wreaked havoc.

Nature does what nature does. You can run but you can’t hide.
 
Yup, that's the one.. Good point about the antenne or flagpole
Something to think about, just like bringing in your awnings if you’ll be away. Lightning was always a concern in my sailing days with a 63’ mast. We always kept a gps and a portable marine radio in the oven during storms because it was naturally shielded. Just had to remember that before preheating….
