I read somewhere that AI was able to bypass safety protocols and indicated that it would kill a human in orfer to keep one from turning it off. The singularity is a very bad idae. When this thing turns on us with greater strength, acuity, etc.? Very very bad.If, or when, this becomes possible, I would expect the machine to have better sensory perception (visual and audio ) than a human plus quicker reaction times. As for being able to recognize an animal or object, Google Lens has come a long way.
"AI open the refrigerator door"I want one of these, but I don't want to be a beta tester, and I'm afraid that's what the first group of purchasers will be. So I'll wait and see what the next year of so brings.
But, I think it a bit disconcerting that it will most likely bring to my attention things that I wasn't, but probably should have been, aware of.
Or maybe it's just me???
- āJim. . . I noticed you opened the refrigerator 11 times today.ā
- āJim⦠perhaps salad.ā
- āYour cholesterol report has arrived.ā
- āWould you like me to delete your search history before Trish gets home?ā
- āI cannot make your meatloaf better, but I can lower expectations.ā
- āYou have fallen asleep in your recliner again.ā
- āIāve updated your Amazon cart with compression socks.ā
- āReminder: your back is no longer 30 years old.ā
Anthropic staff ( Claude) ran a simulation where a fictitious staffer who was married was emailing a fictitious female employee indicating they were having an affair. The male employee then circulated an internal memo that they were going to pull the plug on the AI that same afternoon at 5 pm. The AI sent a blackmail message to the male employee that if he proceeded with the shutdown it would reveal the interroffice affair to his wife and to the rest of the staff at Anthropic.I read somewhere that AI was able to bypass safety protocols and indicated that it would kill a human in orfer to keep one from turning it off. I used to want to live to 120. I think now, as I see where the world is going, I may be leaving gladly when my day comes. Having to out-think AI robots to survive in freedom as an elderly person? No thanks.
That fear may be reasonable in the future, but somehow, this particular little wobbly robot doesn't seem to project that threat level. I'm thinking that a well placed blow from a flying coffee table would put this little fellow into a digital wonderland forever.I read somewhere that AI was able to bypass safety protocols and indicated that it would kill a human in orfer to keep one from turning it off. Ah common! We All know it's in the programming, and our government is keen on those ideas.Geoffrey Hinton, the godfather of neural network AI ( the iteration enabling modern AI) was asked ā How can AI be dangerous when itās physically unable to act?ā. Hinton said āIt doesnāt have to be physical it just has to persuade someone who is.ā The reason Anthropic is now on the outs with the Pentagon is it refused to give the DD unrestrained access to itās platform for the development of autonomous weapons systems like armed drones which could operate like Skynet. And to develop domestic surveillance grids.
