so I find most equipment failures are due to focus on one line!
The part of the line you highlighted I find most telling is "although NOT preferred "! I focused In on the line further down where it talks about little holes. Then further down where it talks about "as designed "(my words).

In my book the line you highlighted says! If it's a deal breaker, we have a last ditch installation option, but we really would "prefer" you not use it.

This may be the reason I seldom had failures in my installs, but maybe I just got lucky!!!

What happened in these events? Did they just quit working or were there more problematic demises?

That statement I made is generalized! Most installations fail when we say it will work but. Most boost transformer I have had anything to do with, are in control rooms, adjustable, and open frame. Most quality outdoor transformers are potted where condensate is not a problem.

It appears from past research that there is voltage sense circuit in the box, and that tells me they need to worry about water.

Your installation will work, looks great, I frequently post warnings of possible issues so people go in with both eyes open!!! Not to detract from one's handiwork.

What about the "ventilated" compartment requirement? How ventilated does the compartment need to be?

If the transformer is 99.5% efficient, at full capacity the heat dissipate would be 550watts. Depending on the wall treatment, and any insulation, you could calculate worst case scenario. Forced air vs convective transfer would determine vent size.

I would look for factory recommendations.

I have seen many folks put the Autoformer in the electrical bay without any issues, so it must not be a big heat generator…

When you calculate losses because energy is converted to another form, what do you think the energy converts to???

That said, I do correct my calculations, seems I was off on efficiency per this link.

I agree that it has not been an issue for most. This year has been a torch and has shown flaws hidden till now. Just saying!

Not talking about the auto transformer. I'm talking about how the heat is causing problems. The problems are the flaws in the system (grid)
