Yes, too true, my dealer charges that, $195.00

Flat Rate also means they charge what the "book" says it should take for time. If the "book" says 1 hour and they fix it in 30 minutes, you pay 1 hour.
Supposed to work both ways but good luck with that.

We have been shocked by these rates. In the first years of our marriage, I was a teacher. It is hard , important work, and requires a college degree. Teachers are paid so poorly, why would anyone want to do it anymore? The whole picture is ridiculous, and part of the reason for our educational decline. Judy D

That isn't that bad (ok for camping world it is) Cummins Fort Worth was $225 and they charged 4 hours to run my RV on the dyno.

Yep bend over and smile. General RV in West Chester PA charges $225.00 an hr straight labor rate. Get just a small couple items fixed you are looking at a $500 dollar bill. Ask me how I know.

I'm unfamiliar with book times for RV bodywork, parts repair, or replacement. A perfect example is that on my previous coach, the inverter was easily accessible, so it would have been much easier to replace than on my current Newmar, where the inverter is up between the frame rails, and it's the devil to see much less work on.

Major Freightliner shop in Northern California - $230. Somewhat cheaper in Junction City Oregon at a large private facility - $175. Seems like $200/hr is an average price these days.

REV service center in Coburg Oregon charges $165/hr. Where they bend ya over is the cost of parts, double or triple anywhere else! Leisure Coachworks in Fontana CA charges $169/hr but the cost of parts is half of what REV charges.

Tom Nehl South Jacksonville Florida. Minimum of two hours labor at $200/hour. They resolved my problem, the labor rate seems normal these days. It was the minimum of two hours labor that got me.

Last year, RV Services of VA, the labor rate was $159/hr in 1/2 increments.

When they post a sign using a dry erase board, you know your future viability is in question! That said it brings to mind the old saying "if you have to ask, you can't afford it!". At least you don't have to ask!!! So can you afford it?

Definitely out of my price window!!!

You might look for a mobile RV tech in your area. Usually they are a small family business. They aren’t always cheap but more reasonable than dealers. Most seem to charge a roll fee to cover their costs of travel but the labor is deducted from it.

Try a mobile RV person…check them out online will e much more reasonable. Ac replacement should not take more than one hour. Just had it done

Last year, RV Services of VA, the labor rate was $159/hr in 1/2 increments.

I’m a fan of those guys. I used them all the time when I owned my Kountry Star. Fair and competetent.

Well it's either learn to work on your own equipment or pay the going labor rate to have someone else do it for you. Yes I know they don't make it easy to do your own work.
It's the same with newer cars and trucks.
