Recall Newmar recalls RVs for cargo door issues

Our 2021 DS should be on here…door on passenger side opened while getting on I-24 near Chattanooga about a month ago. Heavy traffic and thank God I was in the truck ahead of the hubs in the rig. I forced him to pull over on the on ramp. We had to duct tape it closed.

We had a mobile tech come and he spent two hours adjusting it to secure it. Said it’s a problem with Newmar’s. Duh.

We were saved because we were only driving 100 miles to the next campground and it didn’t seem worth hooking up! I was constantly looking in the rear view mirrors watching him driving the rig. I saw the door swing open and a small table go on to the road!

We were ready to get on to I-24 towards Chattanooga. Crazy traffic.

We were at Newmar less than 3 weeks previously and another passenger side door wouldn’t close. They spent 3 hours trying to adjust it and finally got it to “bite”. They actually didn’t charge us for that. Was totally shocked by that!

These doors are an issue for sure.

I did have that happen to my Encore but I have to admit it in my case it was operator error. None the less it was not fun.

I don't think this is a case of the door opening, we can all take it one step better at times and do a pull test on the bottom of basement doors prior to departure. This recall is actually the delamination of the basement doors. They call it a possible road hazard, right up until that delamination kills someone.

This only affects the more recent doors where Newmar no longer makes them in house but rather uses a standard moryde door and applies a skin to it with 2 sided tape.

Our 2016 LA has one that is right rear battery door. Tech said do to heat from dpf

What year did they start using the moryde doors.

In reading the recall range it appears to be the non moryde doors on the London Aire 23-24 that are involved.
2025 is the first year LA went to moryde doors.
