Yes, it's what I use. Can mount on flagpole buddy, a tripod, or just on the ground or a table. Some mount them permanently on the roof as well.

Yes. The mini works fine but the Gen3 will be a better option with a larger dish, better Wi-Fi, etc. Gen3 will likely have faster speeds as well.
