On the other hand, if my surveillance cameras will run on 500 kbps, it might not be so bad. Right now, I’ve got to keep three $120-a-month dishes active year round just to keep an eye on whatever property I'm not on at the time. If I can drop that $360 down to $5 for several months at a time, well, that’s a math problem I’m happy to solve.

Streaming video i.e. Netflix & Prime is possible at 500 kbps with resolutions of 360p & 480p which on TVs 40 inches or less is acceptable quality. Many OTA channels are 360p. The more I research Starlink's new pause/standby feature, the more confused I become. We are using SL and will not return home until late September. At that time, I had planned to pause my service. It appears to me that if I sign up for the standby now, I will go on standby Sept 1. I, of course, don't want to do that. Help me out, folks. Please and thank you.

I had to go find my email. Glad you guys are talking about it and brought to my attention. I was already on the ten gig plan. In reading the comments, I have determined our usage pattern is rather unique. We use our coach mostly year round one or two weekends a month. It goes in the barn the end of June and stays there until the end of August (we have a stick and brick in Steamboat springs). We will have three two week trips sprinkled out Sep. 1 thru April 1. We had already moved to the 50 gig plan back in the Spring. It will be interesting to see if we can make this five dollar plan work year round except for our three longer trips.

That is their chat bot saying reactivation doesn’t cost additional beyond the actual monthly charge.
Since chatbot/AI is known for hallucinations I am not going to bank on the AI opinion.
Not happy about how EM businesses now have a long history of changing. Stability and integrity is important to me. This change along with the lack of clarity and ability to speak to a real person is not a positive feather in Starlink’s cap.
I submitted a ticket asking for a human to provide clarity on reactivation costs.

As mentioned earlier I bit the bullet and accepted the $5.00 fee however I have not used it in the low data mode. I have my coach in the shop right now for a tweak to the program. I have a false warning that was thought to be s sensor however now appears could be a bad wire.

Now I just realized that I paused my service the first part of August so I will still be full active through the end of august. I guess I will have to wait to try low mode out.

Haven't received the email yet but seeing this on social media. Instead of pausing your subscription you can choose an emergency services mode for $5/month.

In my starlink app, it now shows up under managing your subscription. I just paused mine for the $6 per month (Honduras price)

I was poking around on the Starlink website. Has anybody looked at all the plans available? They have a local priority subscription. The subscription is $40/mth.. Then you buy the data in blocks. 500 gigs for $125. But it is all priority data. That is the same price as the unlimited roam package. It says and I quote " Priority, high speed service for businesses and other high-demand users for in-motion use within one country". It is not for everybody but could be beneficial for some. I have never felt like my service got throttled because of high usage but some have complained about it. I intend to stay on the 10 gig plan for now and see what my bill looks like with the $2/ gig overage charges. If it gets onerous in the fall I will probably switch to the 50 gig plan for $50/month. It is $1/gig overage. We had one trip back in the Spring where we were out for fourteen days. We used 69 gigs during that trip, but it straddled months end so no overage.

Curious which plan to go with, personal vs. business. What's your experience? For example, my mini I could go with Local priority over the consumer plan, $15/mo more but better connectivity? For my business, etc. it's worth having, just want opinions before I make any changes. My Gen3 will be my primary, but for now I was just looking at the mini as I'm going to be putting that to use to test it out soon.

Ok, so instead of being $135 or so a month when I unpause (I haven't in well over a year), it will now be $5 a month, and then I can switch to a $50 for 50 gig or unlimited for $165 when I need it? For my use, I think this will be better, even with the $5 a month, or at least close to a wash. Anyone know what happens if you are on the $50 for 50 and cross the 50 threshold. From what I recall previously, their overage GB pricing was a bit high.

Edit: I see it does say $2 per 2 GB. So, basically another 60GB or so, and you are at the $165 plan. I wonder if they cap you at that, or if you are on $50, if you could have a several hundred $ bill if you use data big time. Personally, my trips are shortish, and cellular is still my primary, so can't envision times I would cross the 50GB by much, if at all.

I have the 50 / 50 plan. Overages are billed at $1 a gb. I can use 150 gb for less than the unlimited plan.
For our style of traveling, right now, this works perfectly for us. At least until the next change anyway.

It warns you when you get to like 80% used and again when you hit 100%. Then you can go into your account and add gb's manually or you can opt in for automatic top offs of 50gb or 500 gb chunks on the subscription. You can't just get like 5 or 10 from what I see, just another block of 50 or 500 @ $1 per gb. That's how it worked on the 10gb plan also iirc but at a higher per gb cost.

If you don't do the opt in thing and exceed the 50gb, it will restrict you to only being able to access your starlink account to manage your subscription. I don't know if it eventually shuts that access off or not.

I wait for the 80% and then make a judgement if I'm going to be out long enough to justify another block of 50 or just moderate my usage until the next billing cycle starts. So far I've not had to add any data....but have had to watch antennae TV for a few days and save my Starlink for work stuff.

I also have some hot spot data I can use on my Iphone if I have signal (ATT) which I so far have had. We don't do a ton of streaming, but if I'm working I have many teams calls and meetings.
